This is the DLO that I created to help some people with their reading. We had to make up some activities to make reading a little bit fun. 

Chunky Challenge

This is the chunky challenge. We had to use the dictionary and find words that started with un. This challenge was kind of tricky but when we got use to it, it started getting easier. 

Writing With Mrs A

The Day I Ran Away.

“ZOE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?” Growled her dad.

“I’m not telling you” Zoe replied. “I’m going out”

Zoe shut the door and started running. She fell in the long dry grass and tried hiding from her dad.

“ZOE WHERE ARE YOU!” Shouted her dad. Zoe got up and started running. Zoe started huffing and puffing. She saw her aunties house and sprinted there. There was a note on the door saying, We have gone out for a while. We will not be back for...

“ZOE!” Shouted her dad.

“Zoe over here” whispered Caroline (Her friend). She ran to Caroline and jumped on her with delight “I’m so happy to see you”

“Are you alright?” asked Caroline

“No my dad is chasing me and I have nowhere to go!” replied Zoe

“You can come to my place, while your dad calms down,” whispered Caroline

An Hour Later...

Zoe saw Caroline and  asked “Where am I and why am I not at home?”

“Calm down you’re at my house,” Replied Caroline “You asked if you could stay here because your dad was chasing you,”

“ Why would my dad be chasing me” Responded Zoe “I’m going back home’’

“Are you sure you’ll be alright?” Relied Caroline

A Few Minutes Later...

“Dad I’m back!” Zoe Shouted.

“ZOE GET HERE NOW!” Demanded Zoe’s dad.

“What do you want!” Shouted Zoe

“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?’’ Roared the dad

“I’m not telling you” Replied Zoe

Zoe ran to her room and shut the door. She said to herself ‘I should have listened to Caroline and stayed at her house!’ So she grabbed her things and jumped through the window. When her dad knocked on her door he said “ Zoe can you please come out!”

A Few Minutes Later…

When the dad stopped talking he heard no one say anything, so he opened the door and saw no-one. He looked around Zoe’s room and saw the window open. He looked through the window and knew that Zoe was gone. He ran down the stairs and in a few seconds he was gone. He ran to the playground and through the city, He thought he saw Caroline and Zoe, so he snuck behind them and when they got to an alleyway he ran in front of them and growled at the two girls “ZOE GO HOME NOW!...” “Oops sorry girls I thought you were my daughter and her friend”

“Caroline open up please” shouted Zoe as she was trying to open up the door. “Please hurry! Hurry!”

Zoe ran around the back of the house and started knocking as hard as she could but no-one answered, so she ran around the city and asked if any other friends were home. She ran and ran but all she saw were notes. So she turned around and saw her dad with an angry face so she started sprinting. She saw a car and jumped in it, and saw the keys. So she turned the car on and started driving - the only thing was she didn’t know how to drive - She put her foot on the acceleration pedal and started driving. She didn’t know where she was going or when she’ll stop. She said to herself “What am I doing?” She was still going but had no idea what she was doing. She stopped near a shop and knew she was doing the wrong thing. She grabbed some food and went back on the road.

A Few Months Later...

She found a place to live and started a new life with new friends and nobody to listen to or to answer to. She was free at last. The only thing she was still wondering was if her dad was still looking for her. A few minutes later she found something. She paused. When she looked at it she asked herself “Is this a message from my dad to say that he is still trying to find me or is this just normal?” She saw a bottle with a message inside saying *I’m still looking for you and I will not...* “Where’s the rest I need to find out what the rest of the letter says”

A Few Hours Later...

Everyone in the neighbourhood  saw a car pull up in front of Zoe’s house. They opened the doors and walked up to Zoe’s front door. They threw the door open and trashed Zoe’s house. They threw everything off the shelves, and smashed the glass. When everything was destroyed they left just in time, because after they left Zoe turned up. “WHAT HAPPENED HERE!” Roared Zoe. She went back to her father and saw everyone was waiting for her. She ripped the door open and raged towards her father. When she got closer and closer her dad told all of his men to surround her so she wouldn’t run away. Her dad knew Zoe was coming back so he put thick pieces of wood around the windows so she wouldn’t climb out of the windows. He also put a lock on her door.

A Few Seconds Later...

The dad took the lock off the door and left for a bit. Zoe opens the door and *BANG* Slams the door. The dad grabs his boys and off they go... “The end was near” was a phrase in a book that Zoe had just started reading. Zoe said to herself “If the end is near I might as well finish my life now.”She saw a cliff and saw her dad. The dad said “ What are you doing Zoe”

“If you leave me alone I will not jump”

“All I want is for you and me to have some alone time. Can we talk for a moment please Zoe”

“If you tell your men to go away”

The men walk away with nothing to say and nothing to do so they go back home and relax until they get a call from Zoe’s dad telling them that everything was ok and they had nothing to worry about.

BLURB: 

This term we have been learning to write narratives. We used the picture prompt below to help us imagine how this situation came about. We tried to hook our audience in by thinking about the pace of events and the pictures we painted with words.

ANZAC Poems

These are images that I have taken from the DLO that Latham and I created. Our learning Intention was to find the Main Idea for the poems that we were looking at. We found out that the main idea is the message that the author wanted to get across the reader. 

Bus Drivers Going On Strike

This is the DLO that I collaboratively created with Latham. This was made using I Fake Text. The activity we were doing was about why the bus drivers went on strike. We learnt that it was important to hear both sides of the stories before you make an informed choice. We also learnt the different meanings of words. We learnt what Bias means and provocation. Bias means one point of view and Provocation is an action or speech that triggers someones feelings. 

Auckland Bus Drivers On Strike

This is the DLO that I have created with Sylis. This DLO was based on our Current Events. Our current event was Auckland Bus Drivers On Strike. We had to go on a site and use all the sources to find our information. The Learning Intention for our Current Events was to identify the 5w's in the article
