River Talks
Today 9TTU and 9KRO went to the Pt. England reserve and had our river talks. We learnt a lot of things about where we put our rubbish and the actions that they cause when they are put in the wrong places. The schools that went were, Pt. England, Glen Taylor and Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Puau Te Moananui A Kiwa. We had a visit from a lot of people and they talked to us about cleaning the rivers and how it affects our future.

Rockets
Last Friday we stayed back at Tamaki college and made rockets with Mr Dunn and Mrs Ferguson. We made two different types of rockets, straw rockets and paper rockets. One thing I liked about making the rockets was everything was cut out and ready and it didn't waist any of our time.

Hockey
This week on Thursday we had hockey. We learnt three things, how to grip the stick, dribble with the ball and juggle the ball with our stick. There were some parts about hockey that I liked and didn't like. For instance we got to have some fun doing games like Octopus, Juggling and red light & green light. We had some practices and then challenges. One of them was where we got into two teams and one of our instructors called out a number which was the amount of players that had to play from each team. The thing I didn't like about hockey was the fact that we were being taught the same skills that we were taught last year.

5 Minutes of...
Beneath The Sea
BANG! All of a sudden I had been dragged down to the bottom of the sea. I tried swimming upwards but my leg was caught under a rock, and I was losing my breath. I can see the bright sun looking down at me through the clear water. It is shining upon the sea like a reflection. I could finally move my leg again. I swam to the top of the sea, suffocating inside while my heart was racing. I am still having trouble breathing, but I knew I had to give it my all to reach the top.
I reached the top and felt like I almost died. I tried calling for help but land was a mile away and my phone was broken from the fresh, salty sea. I was stranded and alone until in the corner of my eye I saw this giant red helicopter. My eyes were keeping contact with it as I was struggling to keep floating in the water. I started sinking to the bottom of the sea again. I saw a plank of wood so I quickly grabbed it before I drowned. I jumped onto it, waved my arms, and screamed for help.
Someone peeked down at me and saw me while I was screaming. A hoist dropped down into the sea as I swam closer to it. It grabbed me like a claw machine. I was then lifted up high above the sea. I’m tragically gulping for air to breathe. I didn’t know how long I was out there. It felt like a day or maybe a week.
Yesterday Mrs Anderson's writing group had 5 minutes to write a story about the picture above. We had to partner up and sit back to back. We had to plan for 10 minutes and then write for 5 minutes.

Paper Planes
Today LS2 were testing their team paper planes. We had to get a piece of every member in our groups plane and make the ultimate team plane. We talked to our groups and tried to make the ultimate team plane. Unfortunately we did not make the top three but we did have a lot of fun. Thomas came first with 14.1 meters then Tai and then Zahn.
Recount Writing
In writing, we have been introduced back into recount writing. We have searched blogs around the Manaiakalani Cluster for recounts and shared them with our class about what we liked our it. We them completed this mini quiz just to refresh our memories about recount writing.

National Library Visit
Today Mrs Ogilvie from National Library came to Panmure Bridge School and taught us different ways that we can be smart searching and has shown us different websites that we can use instead of google to find our information. The website she showed us was EPIC, EPIC has a lot of helpful sites like Britannica and Kids Infobits. They also have an age level which is Primary, Intermediate and Secondary school. She also talked about if you go onto a site you might have to make to go onto another website and double check if the information is true or not.

Life Ed With Nicole
Today we had our first session at the Life Education caravan with Nicole. We were also taught a fun game by nicole. The number he leader calls out is the amount of claps you have to do. We learnt about some of the systems that the body has. One of them was circular system and that is where the blood goes. Another part of the body that we learnt was the lungs and the heart. The lungs are the part that cleans your blood and makes it more clean for you to survive. The heart is what keeps you alive. We also learnt about the spine and what it was able to do. Did you know that when you are looking at something it is upside down and the part of the brain that helps you see is at the back of the brain. Wrist and your neck is where you can look to see if there is a pulse, just incase of emergencies.

15 Minute Buddy Writing
LI: To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words.
I wake up and all I hear is something calling me and pulling me closer to it. I follow the voice and it leads me to a dark place in the middle of nowhere. It's sticky and smelly. Everytime I go up facing the blue sky I feel this slimy thing oozing off the side of me as I plop back down. I call for help but no-one is around. So I ask my twin brother but he is daydreaming. I go faster swishing through the mud and out i go. I can see and I can now feel the wind blowing softly on my face, but suddenly drop straight back down bruising my soul. I think to myself “Is this the end of me”. For sure I know we’ll be home soon. But no, the giant finds a colosas hill and sprints forward as I moan all the way through. As each stomp I take I feel my spine breaking apart. We are finally out and heading home. We arrive back home all wet, sticky and muddy. Then thrown down the stairs, out the door and right into the bin. Just sitting there as more things were thrown in the bin. I felt like a pile of trash.

Bias
In reading this week our group has been learning about Bias and what it means. We learnt that bias means only giving one persons point of view, or side of an argument. For example: Music Judges only judged people on their genders not on their ability to play. For some reason they mainly chose male musicians. But now days they do blind auditions so they dont know who is playing or what gender they are.

Word Wall and Paragraph
The temperature was freezing as if it was a sub-zero temperature as Jeff had tosubdue the sled dogs from going off track in a blizzard during a dog sled race. It’s neighbouring country (Canada) was having a war. When all of sudden, asubmarine submerged from the waters. The Subaltern Corporal lead the assault, his men were frightened but the corporal managed subside them. They entered the hidden subway their men dug. As they entered they felt a subnormalpresence.

Bus Drivers Going On Strike
This is the DLO that I collaboratively created with Latham. This was made using I Fake Text. The activity we were doing was about why the bus drivers went on strike. We learnt that it was important to hear both sides of the stories before you make an informed choice. We also learnt the different meanings of words. We learnt what Bias means and provocation. Bias means one point of view and Provocation is an action or speech that triggers someones feelings.

Auckland Bus Drivers On Strike
This is the DLO that I have created with Sylis. This DLO was based on our Current Events. Our current event was Auckland Bus Drivers On Strike. We had to go on a site and use all the sources to find our information. The Learning Intention for our Current Events was to identify the 5w's in the article
