The Unfinished Drink
Today I learned about a famous drink which was left in Waihao Forkes Bar 1939 by a man named Private La Tour Mollet (Ted) d'Auvergne who was having a final drink with his friends at 7:20. The train whistle blew and he told the bartender "Leave it on the bar and I'll get it when I come back.” But he never returned. The bottle still lies there which is protected by a wooden box with a glass front. Every year on ANZAC day they add a poppy to lay by the bottle.
